Privacy Policy
We’ll show you ours, but we’ll never share yours. Here’s how we keep your information safely between us.
This website is owned and operated by The True Honey Co. (that’s us!) To understand how we collect, use, protect or otherwise handle your Personally Identifiable Information in accordance with our website, please read this privacy policy.
Ch-ch-ch-changes
We reserve the right, at our discretion, to change or remove portions of this Internet Privacy Policy at any time. This Internet Privacy Policy is in addition to our other website terms and conditions. Please let us know what you think of it.
The details we may obtain
We collect information from you when you register on our site, place an order, subscribe to a newsletter or enter other information on our site. You may be asked to enter your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, credit card information or other details to help you with your experience.
Your personal info is only used for processing and invoicing your order. If you’d like to stay up to date with True Honey Co. news, opt in for our newsletter.
If your inbox is chocka and you can bear to go without our newsletters, click ‘unsubscribe’ at the bottom of the email any time. If you’d like to inspect or change your personal data on file please contact us as per the above details.
Each time you visit our site we may automatically collect some fairly complicated technical information, including the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer, tablet, mobile or other device to the Internet and other unbelievably clever stuff like your login information, browser type and version, time zone setting, browser plug-ins and operating system and platform.
We may also gather some information about your visit, including the products you viewed or searched for; page response times, download errors, length of visits and other less interesting details that we can use to help improve our site.
Credit card details
We only store your Credit Card details if you choose to do this to make your next order quick and easy. These are stored on the payment gateway service provider. Otherwise we don’t keep them.
Mmm, ‘cookies’ – they sound delicious
Cookies are small files that our site transfers to your computer via your Web browser (if you say it’s ok). These cookies help us recognise your browser and capture important details – like remembering and processing the items in your shopping cart. They also help us understand your preferences based on what you do on our site, and make it a better experience for you. They also give us pointers about site traffic and interaction so we can keep improving the site in the future.
Through your browser settings, you can either let your computer warn you each time a cookie’s being sent, or turn off all cookies. Since every browser is different, check the Help Menu to learn how to do this. If you turn cookies off, some features will be disabled, but you’ll still be able to place orders.
Third-party links
Nope, we don’t include or offer third-party products or services on our website.
Google - you may have heard of it
We use Google AdSense Advertising on our website. Google’s advertising requirements can be summed up by Google’s Advertising Principles, which aim to provide a positive experience for users.
Google uses cookies to serve ads on our site. Google’s use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads to our users based on previous visits to our site and other sites on the Internet. Users may opt-out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google Ad and Content Network privacy policy.
Demographics and interests reporting
We, along with third-party vendors such as Google use first-party cookies (like Google Analytics) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) or other third-party identifiers together to compile data regarding user interactions with ad impressions and other ad service functions related to our website. Don’t know about you, but all this talk of cookies is making us peckish.
You can opt out of Google advertising using the Google Ad Settings page, or by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative Opt Out page or the Google Analytics Opt Out Browser add on.
We do not specifically market to children under the age of 13 years old. That would be weird.
Your data is top secret!
We will never disclose your personal information to other agencies or companies without your explicit consent, unless required by law. We hate spam as much as you do, so we’ll never sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your Personally Identifiable Information.
How we use your info (including your email address)
When you register, make an order, sign up for our newsletter, respond to a survey or marketing communication, surf the website, or use certain other site features in the following ways:
- To personalise your experience and deliver content and products we think you’ll like
- To make our website a nicer place for you to spend time
- To better respond to your customer service requests
- To run a contest, promotion, survey or other site feature
- To quickly process your transactions
- To email you or follow up about your order, questions or requests
- To send you info (like handy tips) related to what you’ve ordered
- To share new products or special offers from The True Honey Co. (But only if you opt in to receive these emails when you place an order.)
If you prefer to never get another email from us, just click the ‘unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of any newsletter. If you’ve already deleted them, please email us (ironic!) at hello@truehoney.co.nz and we’ll take you off our email database. You’ll then get one last email to say that you won’t get any other emails. (Yes, we’re also aware how ridiculous that sounds.)
How we protect your information
Our website is scanned on a regular basis for security holes and known vulnerabilities so our site is a safe little spot on the interwebs for you. And our IT boffins use regular Malware Scanning. (Doesn’t that also sound like a great name for an evil nemesis?)
And if you don’t speak ‘gadget’?
Translation: This section is about all the technical things going on ‘behind’ our site to keep you safe and your stuff secure.
We’re extra vigilant when it comes to keeping your personal info safe, and implement a whole lot of security measures when you place an order. All transactions are processed through a gateway provider – never stored or processed on our servers.
Your personal info is contained behind secured networks and only accessible by a limited number of people with special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. And all sensitive/credit information you supply is encrypted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.
We take all reasonable steps to keep secure any information which we hold about you, and keep it accurate and up to date. If any of the details we hold about you aren’t correct, email us on hello@truehoney.co.nz and we’ll fix them.
Our team and contractors who work on our IT systems are legally obliged to respect the confidentiality of any personal information held by us. We also make them pinky swear.
Where your personal data goes
Whilst the idea of information transcending up into a cloud is quite poetic, the reality is that information these days is stored in computer servers all over the word (like very secure storage facilities for information). The data that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside of the European Economic Area (EEA – which basically means the EU plus a few extra countries). It may also be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for us or for one of our suppliers. Such staff maybe engaged in, among other things, the fulfilment of any order, the processing of payment details and the provision of support services). Wherever such transfers are made we will always require your personal information to be treated to at least UK standards, and by submitting your personal data, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy.
Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot 100% guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site and any transmission is at your own risk. Similarly, whilst we will always try our very very best, there are quite a lot of naughty people out there who spend all of their fairly sad existence hacking into even the most advanced systems and so we can’t guarantee the security of such information you send to us, so to the extent permitted by law, we disclaim liability and responsibility for damages you may suffer due to any loss, unauthorised access, misuse or alterations of any information you submit to this Website.
How long do we keep your data secure and private
We will keep your personal data only for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purpose that it has been processed and taking into account any legal requirements under the laws of England and Wales.
Your rights
You can always choose not to provide information. If the information is needed for a transaction, then the transaction will not proceed.
You have the right to access information we hold about you and to request that it is corrected if any of your details held are incorrect, which we will be more than happy to assist with. If you wish to make such a request, then please email hello@truehoney.co.nz and we will dig out everything we hold about your good self.
Jurisdiction and governing law
All matters relating to our site are governed by the laws of New Zealand, England and Wales. By using our site you agree that the jurisdiction and venue for any legal proceeding relating to the Website shall be in appropriate courts located in New Zealand, England and Wales. If you are located outside of this jurisdiction, you are solely responsible for compliance with any applicable local laws.
Getting in touch
If you have any questions about this privacy policy, we’d like to hear from you. It’s just really nice to get mail sometimes.
